Welcome to the Engineering Foundation YearCurtin spends considerable effort continually re-examining its engineering curriculum to ensure that it meets the demands of the profession. Critical in this educational experience is the first year program. It is here that the students become aware of the components of engineering practice. Importantly, they will in their first year gain an appreciation of the role and functions of engineers, and of the various sub-disciplines. First year can be a challenging experience for many students adapting to university life. There is also strong evidence to suggest that the performance of students in first year is often related to the social context and networks that they can establish in the first few weeks at University. For these reasons, Curtin has now established a common first year curriculum for all engineering students - the Engineering Foundation Year (EFY). The EFY has a dedicated office where staff are happy to provide pastoral and academic support. If you need to contact the office the details are found here |
