Garth Mason graduated from the BEng (Software Engineering) at Curtin. He is currently working as a Software Engineer at DDI Health, specialists in developing imaging software solutions in Pathology, Radiology, Practice Management & eHealth.
The Bachelor of Engineering (Software Engineering) course at Curtin University provided me with the tools I needed to be successful in the real world. The course's practical aspects - particularly the industry based projects - left me well prepared to contribute immediately to the commercial environment. I felt I was able to draw upon my knowledge from University in the various roles and tasks I performed. The skills you gain from the course are certainly in demand as I had numerous offers upon completing the course and several more since then.
Evan Lim graduated from Curtin's B.Eng Software Engineering course in 2004. He now works at Motorola Global Software Group Australia developing software solutions for mobile devices.
The course was very interesting and challenging, providing me with the information, training and preparation necessary for the modern software industry. The programming and engineering aspects of the course helped to refine both the technical and interpersonal skills needed to be a successful engineer. The main course highlight was the 8 month project in final year that spanned over 2 semesters. This offered me the chance to work on a real software project with a respected industry partner, which gave me insight into what the real software industry was like. It also provided a chance to interface with software professionals, to make an impression and to gather some software industry contacts. After its completion, I felt a great sense of achievement and really looked forward to making a difference in the software industry.
