Exposure to Professional Engineering Practice (Work Experience)
To be eligible for graduation with an Engineering degree at Curtin University of Technology, undergraduates are required to be exposed to professional engineering practice for a period of not less than 12 weeks or 480 equivalent hours [as advocated by Engineers Australia (EAust)].
Curtin Engineering or its Departments do not arrange work experience for undergraduates (although some of the normal coursework activities may contribute some hours).
Work Experience Notification
Please notify Curtin Engineering of each separate work experience placement by submitting a Work Experience Form to the Enquiries and Assignments Office on level 2, building 204.
The final page of the form is required if a disability is to be declared. Students with disabilities should submit the final page to University Counselling Services who will advise on the provision of reasonable adjustments that may be made to undertake the placement.
Log Books
The Log Book is an official record of your exposure to professional engineering practice and must be submitted by you at the end of your course in support of your application to graduate. It is your responsibility to keep Log Books up to date.
Log Books are available through the Assignments and Enquiries Office (level 2, building 204).
Insurance
The university community does cover different levels of activity undertaken off-campus that contribute to the award of a degree.
