Become An ITAS Tutor And Make A Difference! ITAS is the INDIGENOUS TUTORIAL ASSISTANCE SCHEME, which was established in 1990 as part of the National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander education Policy. It is funded by the Commonwealth Department of Education, Science and Training and Curtin University, through the Centre for Aboriginal Studies, is an ITAS funding recipient provider. ITAS is a student-driven program that provides supplementary tutorial support for Indigenous students, so eligible recipients must be of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent and currently enrolled at Curtin University. Tutors are generally expected to hold a degree in the appropriate field of study, however students in the final stages of their degrees may be contracted to tutor students in the first year of study. There is no requirement for Tutors to be of Indigenous origin. Tutors may be contracted up to 10 contact hours per week, per semester, at a rate of $40.00 per hour. Curtin has Indigenous students enrolled in almost every discipline and tutors are in great demand! If you are able to commit your time and knowledge to becoming an ITAS Tutor please contact Kia Mippy on 9266 2893 (K.mippy@curtin.edu.au), to obtain an information pack. |
